Position Overview
As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and enforcing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies in accordance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation. You will play a critical role in hazard identification, incident prevention, and cultivating a strong safety culture across all levels of the company.

Key Responsibilities
Enforce compliance with Alberta OHS Act, Regulation, and Code
Conduct regular job site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits
Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety complaints; produce detailed reports and recommend corrective actions
Deliver safety orientations and toolbox talks to workers and subcontractors
Maintain all safety documentation (e.g., FLHAs, inspections, training records, incident reports)
Assist with the development and implementation of Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs)
Promote a culture of safety by leading by example and engaging with workers on site
Liaise with management, supervisors, and external safety consultants or inspectors
Monitor use of PPE and ensure safe work practices are being followed
Qualifications
Minimum 2-3 years' safety experience in construction (residential, commercial, or industrial)
Completion of a safety designation or certification (e.g., NCSO, CSO, CRSP, or equivalent)
In-depth knowledge of Alberta's OHS legislation
Valid First Aid and WHMIS certifications
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation (travel between job sites may be required)
Proficient in MS Office and safety management systems (site docs)
