Advocate Printing & Publishing is searching for an experienced Safety and Quality Manager to join our team in

Pictou, Nova Scotia

. The role reports to the Director of Operational Improvement and is responsible for coordinating safety requirements and supporting the development of Advocate's safety policies, standards, and training programs. The position also leads our quality initiatives, strengthening process reliability, reducing variation, and supporting continuous improvement across operations. This role works closely with employees, managers, and senior leadership.

Job Responsibilities:



Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Advocate's health and safety policies, procedures, and standards. Coordinate safety programs across all manufacturing and office locations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct hazard assessments, safety audits, incident investigations and support injury management, and support corrective and preventive actions. Deliver safety training and support leaders in building strong safety practices and engagement. Track, analyze, and report safety performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Lead quality initiatives that strengthen process reliability, reduce variation, and enhance product quality. Support production teams in developing quality checks, control points, and documentation within workflows. Facilitate root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues across departments. Monitor quality performance metrics and report trends to operational and senior leadership. Collaborate with production teams to embed safety and quality into day-to-day operations. Maintain required safety and quality documentation, training records, and audit results. Partner with the Director of Operational Improvement to align safety and quality initiatives with broader organizational goals.

The successful candidate will possess:



A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated responsibility for health and safety programs; experience in quality systems is an asset. An Occupational Health and Safety Degree, Diploma or Certificate. CRSP is considered an asset. Working knowledge of provincial health & safety and environmental regulations as well as Labour Code Standards, Human Rights and Privacy legislation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively with others. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions. Familiarity with quality systems, process controls, continuous improvement methodologies considered an advantage. Own transportation and maintain a valid driver's license. Ability to travel occasionally. Proficiency with standard office and reporting tools (e.g. Excel, Word, safety/quality software platforms).
