We are now recruiting a Safety advisor , who will support the team based at our office in Wabush (Labrador).
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of current safety measures and suggest improvements.
• Perform safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Develop and implement workplace safety policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and best practices.
• Ensure that safety guidelines are easily accessible and understood by all employees.
• Regularly review and update safety procedures to reflect changes in regulations or workplace environments.
• Organize training sessions for employees on health, safety, and emergency protocols (such as first aid, fire safety, or proper use of personal protective equipment).
• Ensure that new hires are trained on the company's safety protocols before beginning work.
• Conduct ongoing safety awareness campaigns to reinforce safety standards.
• Investigate accidents and incidents to determine their root causes.
• Prepare reports detailing the findings of investigations and recommend corrective actions to prevent similar occurrences.
• Ensure that all workplace injuries and accidents are reported and documented in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure the organization complies with all local, regional, and national safety laws and regulations.
• Stay updated on changes in safety legislation and ensure the organization adapts accordingly.
• Prepare for and assist with safety inspections from regulatory bodies.
• Continuously monitor the workplace for unsafe conditions and take corrective actions when necessary.
• Conduct routine safety inspections of equipment, machinery, and workspaces to ensure they meet safety standards.
• Work closely with managers and supervisors to address safety concerns that arise during daily operations.
• Develop emergency response plans for potential disasters, such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
• Ensure the proper placement of emergency equipment (first aid kits, fire extinguishers, etc.).
• Coordinate and conduct regular emergency drills to ensure all employees are prepared in case of an emergency.
• Oversee the proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear.
• Ensure that all safety equipment is inspected regularly and replaced when needed.
• Educate employees on the correct use of PPE to avoid accidents and injuries.
• Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, accident reports, training sessions, and other relevant documents.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management on safety performance and incident trends.
• Ensure that all safety records are up-to-date and compliant with legal requirements.
• Foster a culture of safety within the organization by encouraging employees to report hazards or unsafe practices.
• Motivate staff to actively participate in safety programs and make safety a core value within the organization.
Act as a safety ambassador and lead by example, demonstrating a commitment to workplace safety at all times.
