Job Description


DXP | HSE Integrated is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor for an Industrial Construction Project in Florenceville, NB. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, and have excellent organizational and communication skills. The Safety Advisor is to ensure the safe operation of the project, jobsite and day-to-day activities of the client and its contractors. The Safety Advisor is to know, advise, and enforce the Client\xe2\x80\x99s and Contractor\xe2\x80\x99s safety programs, safety policies, company rules, and the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act as applicable to the Client\xe2\x80\x99s operation.

Start Date: August 24 to September 5, 2023

Hours: 7 days per week, working 8 hours per day

Hourly rate: $35-$45, with daily subsistence, company vehicle, and accommodations provided.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide support to the project team on the ground on safety matters.
  • Address and communicate immediately any unsafe practices observed on site.
  • Liaison with the Client and their contractors regarding health and safety issues on site.
  • Conduct safety inspections during project work to assess the worksite for unsafe acts and conditions and recommend corrective actions.
  • Advise safety issues and potential non-compliance concerns with respect to Provincial OH&S Act/Regulations.
  • Monitor the safety performance of site personnel. Advise the Client on issues or concerns and recommend ways to resolve issues.
  • Assist Client with incident investigations, including near misses.
  • Attend site toolbox meetings, field level hazard assessments, etc to determine effectiveness and confirm documentation of same.
  • Review site documentation to ensure compliance with the Safety Program.
  • Maintain safety inspection records for the project.
  • Other related duties as determined in consultation with Client.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • First Aid / CPR
  • New Brunswick Fall Protection
  • Workplace Inspections
  • Hazard Identification & Control
  • Incident Investigation
  • CSO, CSS, NCSO, CHSC, CRSP, GSC or other safety accreditation considered an asset
  • A valid, unrestricted Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (Please note, a valid license does not include a Learner\xe2\x80\x99s Permit or Graduated License)
  • A Driver\'s Abstract indicating an unrestricted license with no serious traffic safety violations and 4 or less convictions of any type in the last 36 months
  • Minimum of 5 years construction related safety experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the safety industry and its policies, job procedures as well as applicable Acts, regulations, standards and codes of practice
  • Demonstrate leadership, coaching, mentoring and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrate effective communication with management and workers regarding OH&S
  • Applications from Independent Safety Consultants are encouraged
  • Additional training and certifications may be necessary to meet client specifications
