Course: RUSS 395 section 001 Soviet Cinema: Art and Politics. (3 credits)

Course details: This course explores the relationship between art and politics in the cinema of the Soviet Union. Students taking this course will gain a familiarity with the films and writings of Soviet directors. They will also learn the basics of formal, textual, and historical film analysis.
Salary: $11,479
A Course Lecturer assignment includes all or part of the following teaching activities:
a) preparation of the Course and Course plan;
b) delivery of the Course;
c) evaluation of students;
d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades;
e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff;
f) upon request, review of their students' grades;
g) meeting with students, being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements;
Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit. An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material.

Teaching Qualification Requirements: Education: Ph.D. in Russian or registered in the Russian Studies graduate program at McGill.
Experience: A minimum of two semesters as instructor of a course at a similar level or to be a Ph.D. student in Russian Studies in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at McGill University.
Other: Native or near native fluency in English and a knowledge of Russian is a benefit.
