RPN Nurse - FULL TIME -Permanent

Qualifications:
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current CPR/BLS
Related Health Care knowledge, skill, and experience in working with individuals who have severe physical and developmental disabilities
Competence in providing intensive health care treatment to resident on a daily and emergency basis
EMPLOYMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
To read, understand, and adhere to the terms and conditions of your employment contract and the information provided in the Sunbeam Lodge Policies and Procedures Manual
Administration of medications
Liaison with Pharmacy
Consultation with: Administration and Nursing Supervisor regarding nursing and medical decisions and communicating effectively with parents; doctors, receiving of and transcribing of new orders
Nursing and Personal Care: e.g. Bathing, Nutrition, G-tube care, Tracheostomy care, Skin care, Medications
Supervision of emotional well-being of child/adult
Nursing assessment of child/adult and accurate reporting and documentation
Accompany resident to all required appointments and communicate effectively with medical/health professionals, etc. and relay any new information to Sunbeam Lodge Nursing Supervisor/Residential Coordinator
Responsible to update all resident's documentation as necessary
Ensures that programming is implemented as directed by Charge Nurse/Residential Coordinator
Participation in the Sunbeam Lodge Vehicle Orientation procedure (at the request of Administration) to ensure that proper training has been conducted
Desired Traits:
Ability to communicate effectively using good oral and written language skills
Work as part of a team by maintaining and coordinating communication between patient, staff, families, social agencies, teachers, medical professionals, etc.
Ability to work independently and make independent decisions to support the care of the resident
Genuine interest in supporting all aspects of resident care following individualized program plans
Caring and understanding toward those who deal with varied physical and developmental abilities
Please note that Sunbeam Lodge is not easily accessible from a Grand River transit route.
