Are you passionate about creating dynamic and engaging climbing experiences? We are seeking skilled and creative Route Setters to design diverse routes across the Bouldering Wall, Recreational Wall, and 60-foot Competition Wall at the Richmond Olympic Oval. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping a challenging and inspiring environment for climbers of all levels, from new members to professional athletes. Key Responsibilities:
• + Design and set a variety of climbing routes that cater to all skill levels, from recreational climbers to professionals.
+ Assess and confirm route difficulty and safety, ensuring accurate grade ratings and a high-quality climbing experience.
+ Maintain and inspect climbing walls, assisting with facility upkeep as needed
+ Adhere to established safety protocols and best practices set by the Head Route Setter.
+ Support hold inventory management and equipment orders, ensuring proper organization and tracking.
+ Provide feedback on route setting, collaborating with the Head Route Setter to refine and improve routes.
+ Engage with the climbing community, gathering insights from climbers to enhance route quality and variety.
+ Assist in route setting for competitions or special events, ensuring routes meet event-specific needs.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
• + Advanced competition climbing skills and knowledge across multiple disciplines.
+ Extensive experience in provincially and nationally sanctioned competitive route setting.
+ Ability to climb 5.13a and V8.
+ Completion of, or actively working toward, Climbing Gym Instructor (CGI) Level 1 and 2 certifications (ACMG).
+ Holds or is working toward an aerial boom lift driving license.
+ Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
+ Experience as a climbing wall attendant and/or coach is an asset.
+ Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
+ Must be able to set for extended periods from a harness and/or ladder.
+ Must be able to successfully complete a criminal record check.
+ Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.

Compensation range: $21.10 - $27.32 plus 12% in lieu of benefits (hourly rate is based on qualifications and experience)
