We are looking for Apprentices and new graduates from an Electrical Trade who are interested in working as Roustabout while also working under an experienced Journeyperson to learn the Electrician role on offshore installations and gain hours toward a Journeyperson certificate.

Start off temporary with the potential of becoming full time/rotational position

REPORTS TO: Crane Operator/Electrician

LOCATION: Offshore Newfoundland, Canada

JOB SUMMARY: Participate in operations related to loading and unloading, mobilizing drilling equipment and any odd deck jobs as well as participating in the first-line maintenance of relevant equipment. Work under a Journeyperson Electrician to learn the role of offshore Electrician through apprenticeship/mentoring onboard the installation when operations allow.

PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Completion of valid Electrical Trade program
• Previous Offshore Drilling Rig experience considered an asset
• Previous labour experience considered an asset
• Mechanical Aptitude
• Eligible for provincial Apprenticeship program
• High energy and enthusiasm
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English
• Eager to learn and a go-getter with strong work ethic
• Ability to work well with others
• Structured and organized mindset
• Offshore training considered an asset (Basic Survival Training, H2S Alive, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Standard First Aid)
• Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Assist in the drilling, service and completion process as directed by supervisors and as required by client.
• When properly qualified and as required, relieve Floorhands during drill floor activities.
• Perform the duties diligently and as required and instructed by Supervisor
• Assist in rig up / down and transportation of equipment to/from the pipe deck.
• Assist as directed in maintenance and inspection of rig equipment.
• Ensure that all tools and equipment are cleaned, serviced and properly stored in good condition.
• Keep the DSM and pipe deck, derrick substructure and associated areas in a clean and tidy condition.
• Assist in picking up and laying out of tools and equipment to / from the Rig Floor
• Attend and conduct relevant toolbox talks as directed and required.
• Assist with rig up/down BOP equipment and wellhead equipment as required and directed by supervisor.
• When properly qualified and as required, perform relevant work in the shaker area, including changeover of shaker screens as directed by Mud Engineer.
• When properly qualified and as required, work with the Maintenance department for the purposes of gaining knowledge and experience in a Mechanical role, when operations allow
• When properly qualified and as required, work with the Maintenance department under the direction of a Journeyperson Electrician for the purposes of gaining knowledge and experience in an Electrical role, when operations allow
• Participate in scheduled and unscheduled work area inspections.
• Actively participate during toolbox talks and TRIC card completion
• Emergency duties according to the unit\xe2\x80\x99s emergency organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
