We are currently searching for an intermediate Roadway Designer / Transportation Technician to support our Transportation Projects. The successful candidate should have 5 to 7 year experience in roadway design using OpenRoads and must be familiar and possess a keen interest in roadway and highway design as well as civil engineering practices. Based in the area of Toronto, Kitchener or Ottawa, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be working on exciting and engaging transportation projects for our clients in Eastern Canada.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll be working mainly from home (unless you prefer coming into the office), with the expectation to travel for client /site meetings and occasional team meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Design of Roadway using OpenRoads
  • Creating horizontal and vertical alignment geometry, superelevation sections
  • Review of topographic survey, contours and points
  • Creating templates for cut and fill, ditch, urban and rural sections
  • Creating original ground and design 3D Surface
  • Creating Design Sections and Corridor
  • Strict adherence to company and client drafting standards
  • Preparing sheet drawings to scale
  • Drafting for plan and profiles, pavement elevations, typical sections
  • Preparing conceptual and detailed design drawings for traffic management plans, traffic control, pavement marking and signage drawings
  • Prepare tender drawing package including grading report, cut/fill volume, earthwork balance
  • Follow QA/QC procedures
  • Take direction from Engineers and Senior Designers
  • Efficiently and effectively handle multiple tasks independently
  • Coordination with other disciplines will be required on most projects.
  • Assist in engineering drawing submissions
  • Other duties as assigned
Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field
  • 5 - 7 years related experience in 2D/3D roadway design and transportation engineering
  • Thorough knowledge and work history with OpenRoads
  • A solid foundation with road design principles, TAC, OTM, design standards
  • Ability to work with geomatic and survey data to create base files, original ground surface, profiles and site plans.
  • High energy, positive team attitude and open to feedbacks
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Flexible to accommodate changing project and deliverable needs
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboration with other disciplines
  • Software proficiency in Microstation InRoads and AutoCAD Civil3d is an asset
  • C.E.T. Certification is an asset
  • Experience in tender documents and specifications packages is an asset
