The Truck Driver will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of City roadways throughout the year by operating a variety of equipment including but not limited to tandum trucks, snow plows, sidewalk plows, and dump trucks. The individual will operate a variety of equipment in a safe and responsible manner including the completion of all pre-operational equipment checks.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
Must possess and maintain a valid 'DZ' Class Ontario Driver's License. Must provide a clean driving abstract at time of application.
Three (3) to five (5) years previous work experience directly related to truck operation and maintenance would be as asset.
Experience in Heavy Equipment Operation would be considered an asset
Knowledge of equipment, methods, and procedures used in road maintenance activities.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs, sit for prolonged periods of time, and climb in and out of equipment.
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills with a proven focus on service delivery.
Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations specifically concerning the requirements for job hazard analysis and the development of and training on safe work procedures.
Ability to work independently and as a team.
Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions.
Ability to get along well with others including supervisors, coworkers, members of the public and other partners in service.
Must be able to be available for overtime and call-ins.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Sands and plows municipal streets during the winter months
Operates trucks of various sizes and weights for the hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies
Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
