Job Title: Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse
Position Overview
We are looking for a compassionate and committed Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse to support a child with CHARGE Syndrome who is deafblind. The ideal candidate should be patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic about making a positive difference in the child's life. This position requires proficiency or a willingness to learn a total communication approach, including basic American Sign Language (ASL). Experience in managing challenging behaviours is advantageous.
Available shifts:
specifically seeking someone available for casual school shifts and weekend coverage
School Shift: 7AM- 4PM
Evenings: 4 PM - 9 PM, Monday to Friday
Summer: Day Shifts; 7 AM - 4 PM
Weekends: Commitment to 2 weekend shifts per month is required
Typical weekend shifts: 9 AM - 5 PM, 11 AM - 7 PM
Overnight sleep shifts are available on an as-needed basis

Key Responsibilities
Deliver attentive and personalized care in both home and community environments.
Learn and utilize a total communication approach, including basic ASL, to effectively engage with the client.
Drive and accompany the client on various community outings independently.
Administer G-tube feeds and medications as needed.
Keep accurate and factual records of the client's progress and activities.
Participate in family outings and activities, providing support as necessary.
Create and implement creative and engaging activities or outings tailored to the client's interests and needs.
Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in all areas of care.
Manage challenging behaviours effectively using appropriate strategies and interventions.
Qualifications
Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Must hold Professional Liability Protection (PLP)
Must have or obtain Vulnerable sector check (within the last 6 months)
Must have valid CPR HCP
A minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children/youth with developmental disabilities, autism, or complex behavioural and/or mental health needs.
Strong communication and writing abilities.
Experience in working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to physically lift 60 lbs.
Valid driver's license and willingness to drive the client.
Experience or willingness to learn G-tube feeding and medication administration.
Proficient or willing to learn basic American Sign Language (ASL) and total communication methods.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the family.
Must demonstrate reliability with regular attendance.
Experience in behavioural management is considered an asset.
Compensation
Hourly rate: $40 - $50, based on experience and qualifications.
This position is offered through Ontario Health at Home via Charger Care Services.

Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour
