Department/Unit/Program Description

INTEREST POSTING - Operating Room Training Opportunity - RN - Part Time

The operating room has an exciting opportunity! Ross Memorial Hospital will offer financial assistance for a selected individual to obtain their Operating Room Certification through a recognized program at an accredited educational facility. Financial assistance to include reimbursement of enrollment costs associated with each module.

Successful candidate must be prepared for the following:

A minimum of 4 months full time orientation at Ross Memorial Hospital.

Position Summary

The Operating Room performs elective and emergency surgery on an outpatient and inpatient basis. The multidisciplinary team of surgeons, anesthetists, nurses and support staff work together to ensure a positive experience for the patient.

Essential Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS ONCE OPERATING ROOM CERTIFICATE IS OBTAINED:

• Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in Good Standing
• Must be successful in obtaining Operating Room Certificate from an accredited educational facility (educational facility must be approved by RMH); Must be willing to complete practical modules in the RMH Operating Room
• Ability to scrub and circulate in all services
• Must be willing to take call with assigned shifts and be available to reach the hospital within 15 minutes when on call
• Must respond to call-ins within a 15 minute response radius of Hospital while on standby (On-Call room available)

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Current BCLS certification, on hire
• Knowledge of ORNAC and IPAC Standards
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
• Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
• Computer knowledge and skills
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment
• Ability to function as a team member
• Ability to respond to urgent/emergent situations
• Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per the current Physical Demands Analysis
• Up-to-date Surge Learning
• Demonstrated consistent professionalism in nursing practice
• Demonstrated problem solving, communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• B.Sc.N.

Hours of Work

Must be available days, evenings, weekends and on call and stats. Shifts and hours may vary according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA Collective Agreement
