The Registered Nurse (RN) Healthcare System Navigator, reports directly to the Manager or delegate and practices in accordance with relevant provincial legislation, nursing standards, the code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, employer policies and individual competencies. Provides nursing care in accordance with established organizational polices, procedures, guidelines, and other controls on practice.
The RN works as part of an interdisciplinary clinic team in collaboration with the patient and the patient's health care team including primary providers and specialist to provide a culturally safe point of care access for patients who are booked for elective Hip & Knee total joint replacement or other surgery/medical procedures. In collaboration with members of the Hip & Knee Centre, OR Booking and Pre-Admission Clinic teams, provides support, information, education and follow up to ensure continuity of care and to achieve optimal clinical outcomes and satisfaction. The Healthcare System Navigator is responsible for making recommendations and implementing changes as directed to program processes, tools, materials and supports and is a clinical and educational resource for physicians, health professionals and patients in matters relating to total joint replacement surgery or other surgery/medical procedures.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
