Job Description

In the absence of administration, the Registered Nurse assumes the responsibility, authority, and accountability of all management direction of the residents, staff, and facility.

Major Responsibilities:

Assume leadership and works in collaboration with other care givers to assure provision of resident care.

Direct the caregivers in managing issues during the shift.

Accountable to ensure that they and all staff members adhere to the policies and procedures of the Pine Grove Nursing Home, Department of Social Development Standards, and the NB Health and Safety Act.

Assumes the authority to resolve all issues during their shift and immediately reports the issues and resulting actions to the Director of Care or Administrator in their absence.

Practice in a manner consistent with professional, ethical and legal guidelines of practice.

Other Responsibilities:

Helps develop and participate in the orientation of new personnel and residents.

Leads team effort to develop plans of care to achieve identified resident goals.

Co-ordinates and implements the resident care plans.

Fulfills the role of leader within the interdisciplinary team.

Assumes the role of Case Manager for their assigned residents.

Delegates assignments, care and other tasks necessary for resident care.

Completes assignments, care and other tasks necessary for resident care.

Acts as an advocate on behalf of residents, staff and families.

Provides continuous education to residents, family and other staff as appropriate.

Ensures communication is effective for the operation of the unit and for resident care.

Facilitates teamwork in the unit, between departments and with external partners.

Participates in the revision, maintenance and implementation of current facility policies and procedures for safety, disaster, fire plans, infection control and other programs required of the Nursing Home.

Ensures the Nursing Team participates in all designated Safety Programs (i.e. U-First, All the Right Moves).

Maintains personal health to be able to practice in a safe and competent manner.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $52.91-$55.57 per hour

Expected hours: 7.5 - 15 per week
