The Assistant Patrol Manager is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the seasonal success of the Patrol Team at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. This full time year-round position focuses on strategic oversight, team performance, and the delivery of a safe, effective, and professional patrol operation throughout both the summer and winter seasons. Working closely with Patrol Supervisors and reporting to the Mountain Safety Manager, the Assistant Patrol Manager plays a critical role in shaping patrol standards, supporting team development, and contributing to safety initiatives across the Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

Responsibilities:

Support the strategic planning and execution of patrol operations to ensure a safe and successful season. Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability within the Patrol Team. Monitor evolving risks, weather, terrain conditions, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies. Lead the planning, development and delivery of patrol training and staff development programs. Contribute to the resort's safety manuals, emergency procedures, and operational planning. Support interdepartmental collaboration to align patrol efforts with resort-wide goals. Provide operational input on mountain expansion and capital development projects. Participate in high-level incident response, accident investigation, and post-incident review. Lead seasonal hiring, team structure, scheduling, and budget accountability.

Attending regularly scheduled meetings. Participates in the execution of staff functions. Attend seminars & continuing professional development courses. Demonstrates ability to positively interact with guests. Provides accurate information to guests regarding: lifts, trails, area facilities and services, operating hours, current events, and programs. Caters to guest needs, answer questions and handles complaints in an efficient, courteous, and helpful manner.

Required Qualifications and Abilities:

3-5 years of ski patrol experience, with demonstrated leadership in a mountain operations environment. Expert skiing ability and comfort in challenging alpine terrain and weather. Strong knowledge of mountain safety, avalanche mitigation, and emergency response. Certifications: Peak Emergency Training NUEC-A (with Advanced Protocols) DCTTRS rope rescue (provided) Avalanche Operations Level 2 (preferred) Blasting Certificate (preferred) TDG and Class D Helicopter Rescue (preferred) Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to lead and motivate teams.

Physical Conditions

Able to work in extreme weather conditions. Able to work in early morning hours and for extended periods. Able to ski all advanced and expert terrain on the mountain. Able to ski with considerable loads & patient toboggans. Able to perform search and rescue activities.

Mental Demands

Strong Communication and interpersonal skills Ability to remain organized and levelheaded in a variety of emergency situations. Recognizes cause of risk and is familiar with current industry risk control measures.

Working Conditions

Four days on and three days off schedule You are entitled to schedule yourself to report to work within the guidelines. You will not be entitled to claim compensation for overtime worked unless you are authorized in writing. You will be expected to contribute sufficient time to adequately complete your responsibilities.
