As an affiliate of the Manitoba Metis Federation, the Louis Riel Institute (LRI) is responsible to the Metis people of Manitoba to provide programs, resources and services related to education and culture. The Louis Riel Institute seeks to fill one Full-time, Term, River Lots Researcher position located in Winnipeg, MB.River Lots ResearcherThe River Lot Researcher's focus is on land ownership of the River Lots in Winnipeg. They are responsible to track and find all relevant information within the scope of the project and complete a full report on the findings. This is a summer project with the term ending August 31, 2022.Job Duties/Competencies: Continue the ongoing research of landownership in Winnipeg Find historical and contemporary maps of the City of Winnipeg Create an overlay map display Write a research report on the findings Mentor a research assistant Reliable and able to work with minimal supervision in order to continue researchSkills and Qualifications: University Education or relevant equivalent experience and training may be considered Experience supporting other team members Ability to meet deadlines while multitasking in a fast-paced environment Able to work independently or as part of a team Proficiency in a variety of computer applications including MS Office and MS Excel Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal Knowledge of Metis culture Knowledge of LRI & MMF programs and services Acceptable Criminal Records check and Child Abuse Registry check Proof of Covid-19 vaccination Must be a student returning to school in the fall Must be 18-30 years old as funding requirementsQualified Metisapplicants are encouraged to apply and self-identify on their resume.
