Role Overview



The Risk Data Analyst leverages data analytics to improve safety performance, reduce workers' compensation (WC) costs, and support regulatory compliance. By translating large, complex datasets into actionable insights, you will help leadership understand loss drivers, track and forecast Experience Modification Rate (EMR), and prioritize risk-reduction initiatives across our operations.

Key Responsibilities



WC Loss & EMR Analytics Review WC claims data to track open-to-closed ratios, reserve adequacy, loss development, and EMR movement. Produce quarterly loss-run summaries highlighting cost drivers and adverse trends. Safety Data Management & Reporting Collect, clean, and integrate safety and claims data from internal systems (incident / corrective-action platforms, HRIS, telematics) and external references (carrier loss runs, ISO/NCCI, OSHA). Build and maintain live dashboards, scorecards, and visual reports to monitor leading and lagging KPIs. Trend & Root-Cause Analysis Detect anomalies, patterns, and emerging risks; present findings with clear visuals and narrative summaries. Partner with Safety Team on incident investigations to quantify root causes and recommend data-backed controls. Process Improvement & Compliance Support Track corrective-action completion and measure effectiveness. Supply validated datasets and exhibits for audits, carrier reviews, and regulatory filings. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Automation Work with Operations, HR, and Asset Management to ensure data accuracy and timeliness. Automate recurring reports; deliver ad-hoc analyses at leadership request.

Required Qualifications



2-5 years' experience in data analysis, risk management, or related fields. Proven ability to work with large datasets, perform statistical analysis, and ensure data integrity. Proficiency in modern BI / visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent) and Excel/SQL. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate technical findings for non-technical stakeholders. High attention to detail; self-starter capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred / Asset



Familiarity with safety metrics, incident-reporting systems, or occupational H&S frameworks (OSHA, ISO 45001). Prior experience in insurance claims environments, an asset.

Compensation & Market Positioning



Base Salary: CAD $55,000 - $62,000 per year (commensurate with experience).
