RISK ANALYST

INFORMATION, RISK, AND COMPLIANCE

NorQuesters are difference makers and we\xe2\x80\x99re searching for someone who can find ways forward, being dependable in the daily processing of NorQuest\xe2\x80\x99s Enterprise Risk Management Program, helping sense and identify new risks, assessing impacts and likelihood, making recommendations on appropriate response strategies, and reviewing the effectiveness of the mitigation strategies.

Reporting to the Director, Information, Risk & Compliance, the Risk Analyst administers the College\xe2\x80\x99s enterprise and institutional risk management programs, providing analysis on risks, problem solving issues, running data input and evaluation, ensuring alignment with Enterprise Risk Management Framework, and providing information that leads to further analysis, strategic planning, and coordination.

Consulting with leaders, benchmarking risks against other industries, analyzing the Post-Secondary environment, creating educational materials, and providing technical support (including to Power Apps Risk Register and Power BI Risk Dashboards), the Risk Analyst ensures NorQuest is equipped with the tools and processes to identify, mitigate, and prevent risks.

  • Provide analysis and advice on the evaluation, management, control, and governance of risks.
  • Support leaders in identifying, developing, and prioritizing risk management strategies and plans.
  • Conduct research and analyze data to understand potential strategic and operational risks, concerns, and outcomes of decisions. This includes gathering evidence and evaluating information.
  • Create and maintain a day-to-day external risk sensing program to continuously scan for emerging risks and trends that could impact NorQuest\xe2\x80\x99s overall risk profile.
  • Familiarize with historical treatment of the college\xe2\x80\x99s enterprise risks, to deliver effective advice on risk trends at NorQuest and within the PSI sector.
  • Drive development of key risk indicators (KRIs) and establishing risk tolerance across priority college risks.
  • Develop and grow relationships across NorQuest to help build our risk culture.
  • Update Enterprise Risk Management Framework and draft the associated briefing notes, to effectively update our framework.
  • Liaise with the appropriate teams and technical supports, to further develop and update the Enterprise Risk Management Power BI risk dashboards and Power Apps risk registers.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate teams and technical supports, to resolve technical issues related to the provision of the dashboards and risk registers.
  • Develop and improve existing risk management training artifacts, to the benefit of our Risk Managers, Risk Owners, and Risk Delegates.
  • Deliver risk management employee training sessions for groups of stakeholders, which may include administrative personnel, program staff, or senior leadership.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Undergraduate degree in business or a related discipline.
  • Professional designation or certificate in risk management is an asset.
  • Completion of, or progress towards, the Canadian Risk Management designation is an asset.
  • 3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a risk management, internal audit, quality assurance, or process improvement related role.
  • Extensive experience with the Risk and Issue Management lifecycle.

SALARY: $60,724 - $78,850 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) and includes immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
