for winter 2025/26 to facilitate the enjoyment of our outdoor skating rink for all visitors by maintaining a safe skating environment and ensuring that our rink policies are adhered to by the public.?If you love skating, enjoy being outdoors, have great people and leadership skills, we would love to hear from you!

Hours of Work:

Varied, with work shifts ranging from 5-8 hours per day to cover the rink's daily operating hours of 10 am - 10/11 pm. Ideally, must have availability to work shifts that take place during weekdays, evenings and/or weekends and holidays.

Toronto, on site at 235 Queens Quay W.

Duties



Supervise, motivate and monitor the work performance of Rink Attendants, assisting them as needed, and acting as a point of escalation for them. Provide support with or create work shifts as required. Monitor ice and weather conditions and close rink operations if outside of set parameters. Report ice conditions to appropriate staff and rink status/closure to all stakeholders. Greet and engage with visitors to the rink in a courteous manner and answer any questions or concerns that they may have. Maintain vigilance of rink and skaters' activity to minimize risks and to be able to respond in real-time to situations that might arise. Educate visitors about rink rules/policies and ensure that skaters adhere to them for everyone's safety and enjoyment of the rink. Provide skating tips and information to skaters as needed. Keep the flow of skaters moving in a safe and orderly fashion. Respond to injury or first aid situations by immediately contacting our Security staff so that they may assess and handle the situation. Maintain a log of incidents as well. Maintain the ice surface free of debris or obstacles that may represent a hazard to skaters. When ice resurfacing activities are to take place, facilitate the exit of skaters from the rink in an orderly and expedient manner. Set up (and take-down as needed) all signage associated with rink operations to ensure that relevant information is clearly visible to the visiting public. As needed, perform snow removal and salting of rubber matting surrounding the ice. Perform other duties of a similar nature as assigned.

Requirements



Must possess good skating abilities. Previous rink or associated skating work experience is highly desirable. Previous experience directing and managing staff work performance and task completion is ideal. Alternatively, a natural ability and confidence to lead and work independently, as well as through others, is suitable too. Ability to be attentive and focused on area goings-on and surroundings which can get very busy at certain times. Ability to engage with the public in a pleasant and service-oriented manner and deal with escalated situations in a calm and problem-solving fashion. First aid/CPR knowledge is considered valuable, as is experience in ice monitoring. Reliability, punctuality, a positive demeanor, and a good work ethic are considered essential traits. Must enjoy working outdoors as our rink is an outdoor facility. As such, work environment includes exposure to cold air, wind and cooler temperatures. Role requires extensive periods of standing/being on one's feet. Required to wear during all work shifts CSA approved helmet and other personal protective equipment to ensure personal safety on the job. Availability to work a flexible schedule that ideally includes daytime, evening and/or weekend hours. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the seasonal contract.
