Job Description


As a Retirement Consultant (Qualified Actuary), you will apply your consulting, actuarial, and project management expertise in the areas of Canadian retirement plan valuation and design, compliance and risk & financial management for both defined benefit and defined contribution plans. You will help organizations of varying sizes by supporting actions that will align their retirement programs to their company objectives.

Given the size and complexity of our client portfolio, you will have the opportunity to support diverse projects related to mergers & acquisitions, asset liability studies, forecasting, plan mergers, annuity purchases and other special projects by tapping into our industry leading thought leadership and technology.

Depending on the size and complexity of a client assignment, you may take a leading role or a role supporting a WTW Senior Retirement Consultant. In all circumstances, we strive to provide exposure for dynamic consultants to help them develop and grow rapidly.

The Role

As a Retirement Consultant, you will work as part of a team on a range of complex projects. As you grow and gain more expertise, you will increase your contact with clients, elevate the level of your involvement and take on project manager roles for larger and more complicated assignments. We work with a wide range of clients, working on a variety of types and sizes of projects and you\'ll have the opportunity to be exposed to some innovative and market leading ideas while contributing to interesting work. In addition to ongoing client work, you will have the opportunity to work in one of our specialty groups as desired (Plan Design, Retirement Risk Management, etc.).

We structure our teams so that you get to work with a diverse group of colleagues, providing exposure to different ways of working. We also have defined career paths to ensure you can see how you can progress within the company, whether this be towards a lead consultant, business developer, people manager or toward a broader role.

The Requirements

  • FSA/FCIA credentials or significant progress towards these credentials
  • Experience and expertise delivering Canadian retirement consulting services
  • An excellent track record in delivering core retirement and special project work as well as the ability to contribute to cross-practice client engagements
  • Proven experience in successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget
  • Strong sense of personal accountability
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and sometimes unpredictable, working environment
  • Excellent client relationship, interpersonal and team skills
  • Superior problem solving and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Ambitious and achievement oriented
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a client team
  • A strong personal presence with well-developed oral and written communication skills
