Reporting to the Director of Student Success Services, the Retention Specialist will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of existing and new initiatives that are based on best practices for student engagement and success. This position is within the scope of the APT bargaining unit.



Duties:



The Retention Specialist will work in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement a retention plan; Stay abreast of current retention trends and best practices; Provide support services for students to promote retention and academic success; Engage students in student success services activities to ensure progression towards graduation; Support and encourage confidence in academic decision making by promoting student independence in academic processes and regulations; Provide proactive and timely outreach, referrals (internal and external) and intervention with students; Facilitate group seminars and workshops that emphasize academic success; Assist in the planning and implementation of student orientations and in the delivery of tutoring support programs; Advise, monitor and track student academic planning and progress and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:



Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in appropriately related field with three years of related experience in the following areas: student development/engagement, experience with high-risk students from diverse backgrounds, effective study skills and learning strategies; effective communication and problem solving strategies; academic retention activities, and student academic advisement; or a combination of education, training and experience.



Salary Range:

APT Pay Grade 5 $65,760 to $88,544
