We're seeking a
Retail & Taproom Manager
to join our team. They will oversee the daily operations of our Retail Store and Taproom with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service, improving operational efficiency, driving profitability, and creating memorable customer experiences that reflect the Wellington brand and values. The Retail & Taproom Manager is a key position who must be a self-starter with great energy and a team player with strong people management skills. All aspects of the brewery function best with communication across all departments so you'll be aware of, and partially involved in all parts of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and schedule staff to work in retail store, taproom, and off-site events
Train staff and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for tasks
Inventory management for retail store and tap room. Ordering and maintaining supplies working with the Logistics team and Purchasing & Inventory Controller
Ensure compliance with AGCO, public health, and internal guidelines
Manage private taproom rentals to deliver exceptional results and exceed event expectations
Develop on-site events and promotions that drive traffic to the brewery and align with broader marketing strategies
Maintain a food menu with a focus on quality and an eye on profitability
Input weekly sales and reconcile cash deposits for accounting team
Analyze weekly sales and work with management to implement changes that align with business goals
Collaborate with the Marketing team to build on strategies and initiatives that increase sales, grow profitability, and build the Wellington brand
Maintain POS system(s) and other essential equipment. Work with the Maintenance Manager or outside contractors to repair
Ensure staff and procedures meet safety requirements set out by JHSC, OHSA requirements, and internal policies
Uphold Wellington Brewery's Code of Conduct and values in all communications and interactions
Oversee taproom beer lineup and foster a passion for craft beer education
Represent the Wellington Brewery brand by delivering excellent customer service
Requirements:
3+ years of staff management experience in retail and/or hospitality
A natural leader with experience coaching staff and building team morale
Excellent communication skills with an ability to work with staff at all levels and all departments
A passion for craft beer and hospitality with an eagerness to learn and share knowledge
Experience with draft beer systems and food preparation
Keen business acumen with ability to analyze performance and identify cost-saving opportunities with management team
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, set priorities, and achieve results
Outgoing and social personality that creates a welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds
Experience with POS systems specifically Touchbistro and Shopify POS would be considered an asset
Smart Serve and Food Handlers certifications
Familiarity with Microsoft Office operating systems
Ability to lift 35 lb cases and 165lb kegs regularly and various sized boxes periodically.
Availability to work longer hours as the role requires
