This position represents both the store and ownership in all facets of the business and plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, team development, and exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
Store Operations & Performance
Oversee all daily store operations, ensuring consistency with company SOPs and best practices
Drive retail productivity, sales performance, and profitability while maintaining high service standards
Ensure merchandising, pricing, and product displays are accurate, compliant, and up to date
Maintain full compliance with all federal, provincial, and local cannabis regulations
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, coach, and manage a team of approximately
5 sales associates / budtenders
Assign responsibilities and prioritize tasks to ensure smooth store operations
Foster a positive, respectful, and high-performance team culture
Motivate and develop staff through coaching, feedback, and ongoing training
Identify staffing needs, support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training
Training & Development
Ensure all team members are properly trained on SOPs, compliance requirements, and customer service expectations
Facilitate ongoing education around cannabis products, responsible sales, and evolving industry trends
Scheduling & Human Resources
Manage staff scheduling, time sheets, and attendance
Support HR-related functions including performance management, disciplinary issues, and recommendations on hiring or termination
Handle employee issues professionally, confidentially, and in a timely manner
Cash & POS Management
Oversee all cash-handling procedures including opening/closing, deposits, reporting, and reconciliation
Ensure all cash and transaction processes are followed accurately within the
COVA POS system
and company SOPs
Compliance & Professional Representation
Stay informed on cannabis legislation, AGCO requirements, and industry developments
Represent Purple Tree Cannabis professionally with customers, vendors, and the local community
Address customer, vendor, and staff concerns with integrity, transparency, and accountability
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum
19 years of age
Must hold or be eligible to obtain a
Cannabis Retail Store Manager Licence (AGCO)
Previous retail management experience (regulated retail experience strongly preferred)
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work
days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment
