Retail Store Manager

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:



1. Leadership & People Management



Recruit, train, schedule, and manage a team of associates and supervisors. Foster a positive, performance-driven culture with strong team morale and accountability. Provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations. Ensure compliance with HR policies, safety standards, and labor laws.

2. Sales Performance



Drive store sales and profitability by meeting or exceeding weekly, monthly, and annual sales targets. Monitor sales trends and identify opportunities for growth. Motivate team members to achieve individual and team sales goals. Execute promotions and suggestive selling strategies to increase average transaction value.

3. Merchandising & Store Presentation



Ensure merchandise is well-stocked, accurately priced, and attractively presented. Oversee planogram execution, seasonal transitions, and promotional displays. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shopping environment.

4. Operations & Logistics



Oversee all daily operations including opening/closing procedures, inventory control, and point-of-sale systems. Coordinate timely and accurate deliveries and receiving of goods. Monitor shrinkage, ensure loss prevention protocols are in place, and investigate discrepancies.

5. Scheduling & Resource Planning



Prepare efficient staff schedules based on store traffic, seasonal needs, and sales projections. Adjust schedules proactively to maintain productivity and manage labor costs.

6. Customer Experience



Ensure a high standard of customer service is consistently delivered by all staff. Resolve customer complaints or issues promptly and professionally. Lead by example on the sales floor, engaging customers and offering product knowledge.

Qualifications:



3-5 years of retail management experience (home improvement or big-box retail experience an asset) Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Proven ability to drive sales and manage a team to success Solid knowledge of merchandising, scheduling, and retail operations Hands-on, solutions-focused, and able to work under pressure Proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and basic Microsoft Office software

Work Conditions:



Full-time position; must be available for weekends and holidays as needed Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and climbing ladders Fast-paced, customer-focused retail environment

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
