Job Statement

The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, promoting the sale of retail products, and ensuring a well-organized and efficient store environment. This role involves assisting customers with product inquiries, processing transactions, maintaining inventory, and supporting overall store operations.

The Retail Sales Associate plays a vital role in the success of Fierling Limited by fostering a positive and team-oriented work environment.

Essential Functions:

Customer Service:

Greet every customer warmly, ensuring a respectful and professional interaction.

Sales Assistance:

Engage customers with open-ended questions to identify their needs and recommend appropriate products.

Product Knowledge:

Assist customers in locating and comparing product options, demonstrating expertise in product features and benefits.

Sales Transactions:

Process sales, special orders, and out-of-stock items with accuracy and efficiency.

Store Maintenance:

Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked retail and paint department, ensuring shelves are properly arranged and stocked.

Inventory Management:

Monitor stock levels, report shortages or damaged inventory, and promptly address pricing discrepancies.

Phone & Communication:

Answer customer inquiries via phone in a timely and professional manner (e.g., by the third ring).

Compliance & Ethics:

Uphold company values, ensuring ethical practices in all customer and vendor interactions.

Additional Duties:

Perform other job-related duties as required to support store operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Willingness to develop skills and product knowledge. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Previous retail or customer service experience is an asset. Knowledge of home improvement or building materials is an advantage. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and early mornings. Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and company policies.

Standards of Performance:

The Retail Sales Associate will be evaluated based on:

Consistent demonstration of enthusiasm in assisting customers. Achievement of expected efficiency levels within the Retail Department. Minimal escalations of customer complaints to the Managing Director. Maintenance of a tidy, safe, and well-organized store environment.
