Big Erics has multiple retail stores across the Atlantic Provinces that are staffed with several Sales Associates and Commercial Sales specialists that perform many duties, including serving walk-ins and existing customers. The nature of their work requires that they maintain focus to navigate the computer system while also being attentive and courteous to customers. Customers may be coming in to browse the retail store, pick up pre-ordered purchases, or look for advice on the products we carry.
Reporting directly to the Retail Manager - Atlantic, the Sales Associate is responsible for greeting customers and ascertaining their wants and needs, making recommendations, and assisting customers in locating and obtaining merchandise to meet their needs. Displaying and merchandising our products, liaising with the warehouse team to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained. Partnering with the sales teams in providing exceptional customer service.
Key Accountabilities:
Speaking with customers in the retail store; showing/demonstrating the products.
Identifying customer needs to determine the appropriate staff to support and assist the customer (Commercial specialist, other product/sales experts within the organization)
Providing customers with detailed product and pricing information.
Assist with special customer orders.
Cross Selling/Upselling/Explaining manufacturer and store promotions.
Answering questions and seeking advice from peers where required.
Responding to customer inquiries over the phone or by email related to pricing and products.
Merchandise products and set up displays in the retail store.
Maintenance of the retail store/general appearance.
Finding codes, prices for products and creating price tags for the shelves.
Go through new catalogs to source new items, promos, or sale items.
Deadstock/old inventory rotation and participating in the overall inventory process.
Ensuring daily cash balancing.
Finding codes and pricing for products.
Maintaining high standards in retail stores and test kitchens.
Operating computer system, processing sales, exchanges & refunds.
Additional Accountabilities:
Meeting all health and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in business would be considered an asset.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Sales role ideally in a retail janitorial or restaurant supplies business.
Demonstrated experience managing and leading through change.
Track record of success, business acumen, and an unwavering commitment to excellence
Product knowledge of our representative manufacturers would be an asset.
Experience managing the expectations that arise during a customer/sale relationship.
General computer acumen (email, word, excel).
Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous.
Working Conditions
This position requires the incumbent to work in an office environment at Big Erics with some level of physical effort demands. Mental stress may be experienced when responding to conflicting demands and varying departmental needs, dealing with customers and related issues. In order to provide effective and efficient service, the incumbent is required to be flexible in terms of hours of work when required. Sensory attention to detail is required for inventory control and merchandising of products.
Work hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm, Saturday 9-3; located at the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia location. There may be changes to the regular work week hours and Saturday openings.
