Who We Are

Serving students, staff, faculty and our wider community across all three campuses, the VPFA (Vice President Finance and Administration) leads and develops foundational support services to help achieve SFU\xe2\x80\x99s academic, research and community engagement missions. We deliver SFU\xe2\x80\x99s day-to-day operational and administrative needs through the work of Ancillary Services; Facilities Services; Finance; IT Services; and Safety & Risk Services. Ancillary Services is composed of five departments that provide core services to students, faculty, staff and external community. Through Meeting, Event & Conference Services; Food; Bookstore & Spirit Shop; Parking & Sustainable Mobility Services; Document Solutions; and a variety of experience programs, Ancillary Services strives to create vibrant, engaging and welcoming spaces across all three SFU campuses.

The SFU Bookstore / Spirit Shop is the purveyor of SFU\'s spirit. Our team maintains a wide selection of retail products and services in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Our team develops and implements customer engagement schemes and other retail marketing and communications initiatives to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience.

About the Role

The Retail Coordinator is responsible for providing comprehensive customer service and product knowledge expertise, and works collaboratively to assist in the ordering, receiving and merchandising of retail products at the Bookstore/Spirit Shop, primarily at the Vancouver campus. Under the direction of two Retail Supervisors: orders products and maintains optimum inventory levels for retail products sold at all locations of Bookstore/Spirit Shop; processes inbound deliveries and coordinates the distribution of retail products from warehouse to retail floor; merchandises products on the retail floor; and creates, develops and implements customer engagement schemes and other retail marketing and communications initiatives for the organization. Directs the work of continuing and temporary clerical staff assigned to work within the area.

Qualifications

High school graduation and one year of post-secondary education or formal program equivalent including courses in graphic training, web design, database, spreadsheet and word processing applications. 3 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.

  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent retail selling skills with ability to influence clients and increase sales.
  • Good creative skills with the ability to bring artistic interpretation and personal style to branded products and marketing projects.
