This Assistant Store Manager Job Is For You, If You Enjoy:
  • Responsible for managing the store and its shift team and for ensuring that the store provides the highest level of Customer Service possible.
  • Supervision of sales associates.
  • Working at Toronto Pearson International Airport

Your Team is counting on you as an Assistant Store Manager to:
  • Have open and flexible availability to work any shift on weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • Work a Full-Time schedule

Key Accountabilities:

Customers
  • Promote quality customer service among staff by acting as a positive role model.
  • Be personally available to all customers to communicate and identify their needs and address their questions or concerns.
  • Maintain feedback loop to the other departments with customer comment cards and employee opinion.

People
  • Hire people who are passionate about our products and philosophy and maintain employee attitude and morale by recognizing outstanding performance & service and by motivating & developing staff.
  • Complete and deliver assigned associates annual performance reviews and complete ongoing coaching conversations as required.
  • Verify staff positioning during the shift according to the shop activity, priority, coordinate holidays, and absences from the staff members
  • Prepare the work schedule to ensure that the store(s) goals will be met through appropriate planning & organization of staff and manage absences and health management with HR
  • Assign and communicate monthly learning assignments in Dufry Connect and follow through to completion.

Sales & Operations
  • Responsible for opening and closing the store and securing all assets.
  • Ensure that store is in compliance with all Airport, Provincial and Federal employment laws/regulations.
  • Communicate necessary information at the beginning of shift, including targeted Sales, promotions and new products, company policies and procedures.
  • Organize and coordinate shift plans.
  • Track the daily sales, analyze if any issue in the shop might be affecting the weekly sales, and communicate it to the Terminal Manager.
  • Oversees specific category and/or brand, including product RTV, price changes, merchandising standards, TSRP and promotional changeovers.
  • Improve the Customer experience through excellent operation standards (cleaning, stocking, front facing etc.). Monitor and improve store standards.
  • Guarantee the shop standards are in place, ensuring correct pricing and checking expiry dates.
  • Supervise inventory counting at the end of shift, conduct staff bag checks.
  • Assists in preparation for Full inventory count, ensuring that the staff and areas to be counted are prepared and ready for the count.
  • Coordinate cycle counts as per operational requirements.
  • Implements marketing strategy, ensuring product supply and coordinates team.
  • Assume Terminal Manager\'s responsibility in his/her absence.
  • Compliance to all Loss Prevention practices and protocols.
  • Ensures all health & safety protocols are adhered to at all times

Finance
  • Responsible for the correct cash handling from the cashiers and for training the needed processes and procedures.
  • Reconciliation of cash, card and bank deposits.
  • Verify floats, routine till audits and monitor cashiers at all times.
  • Investigate any cash discrepancies together with the cashier to identify and solve problems.

Required Qualifications:
  • 3 or more years of retail experience, at least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role with strong leadership skills.
  • Understanding of basic retail concepts and strong working knowledge of all airport operations.
  • Demonstrates understanding of Company standards and practices related to retail operations, including cash and inventory control, markdown compliance, merchandise handling and shrink management.
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations in a diplomatic & professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective teams & motivate employees.
  • Good time-management skills and multi-tasking abilities, good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with diverse personalities.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to stand and walk throughout the shift
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; Associates degree or above preferred
  • Must have a valid driver\'s license and vehicle due to operating hours
  • Ability to successfully clear a fingerprint-based criminal history records check
