Job Purpose



The ReStore Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Habitat ReStore. In this role you are responsible for the overall business performance of the ReStore with priority responsibilities on the safety, acquisition, marketing, and sale of quality donated goods; achieve sales targets; the planning and execution of an effective and efficient receiving process, and HR duties such as hiring, training, mentoring and supervision of volunteers, co-op students and staff. The ReStore Manager is expected to engage the public daily as a face and voice of Habitat for Humanity Cornwall & The Counties.

Duties and Responsibilities



Operational



Responsible for the wellbeing and safety of all staff, volunteers and shoppers, make sure the store and surrounding area are free of safety issues and ensures appropriate steps are followed when safety concerns arise Promote, pick up and schedule some donations to drive sales and profits of the ReStore to provide sustainable funding to support Habitat Cornwall & The Counties' mission Establish, implement, and review policies and procedures for the safe, secure, and high-quality performance of all aspects of ReStore activities Oversee the effective merchandising of the floor, maximizing available display space and using inventory control and pricing to ensure appropriate turnover of merchandise Oversee scheduling of store activities including sales, staff schedules, etc. Ensure all areas of the store, including receiving, outside, and storage are clean and hazard free Develop relationships with other area ReStore Managers to identify 'best practices' and programs that are mutually beneficial Review sales data to help ensure the correct merchandise is in the store and to ensure the right mix of merchandise Attend and participate in ReStore-related training opportunities Hire and train ReStore staff, establish annual performance goals for each and monitor performance results, formally reporting at least annually and as required Develop and implement strategies to enhance online presence, awareness and sales. Leverage tools such as website, social media and other opportunities Be the first point of contact for the alarm monitoring company and respond as needed Establish and maintain relationships with potential and existing donors, including contractors, suppliers, individuals, businesses, community, and church groups to increase quality and quantity of merchandise donations

Volunteer Management



Work in partnership with affiliate staff to recruit, train, and engage volunteers and co-op students Guide and assist volunteers in their work, understanding that each is an individual with different capabilities Ensure new volunteers, co-op students and staff are trained to ensure safety in the store, deliver high-quality, consistent customer service experiences in the ReStore and ensure issues are professionally resolved and reported in a timely basis

Finance and Administration



Ensure compliance with all financial reporting practices: reconciling of daily sales and the daily closing out of all financial transactions Develop and enforce pricing policy and processes for store merchandise; review and adjust pricing as necessary for changing market conditions Track sales data to determine categories with high to low volume and adjust procurement and sales strategies to meet customer demand Approve and submit payable invoices on a timely basis

Reporting and Communication



Maintain and ensure accurate and timely payroll, schedules, donor/volunteer forms, are recorded and posted in a timely manner Review expense accounts regularly to make necessary changes and ensure on budget Ensure the Executive Director is informed on a regular basis of progress/challenges Ensure reporting to Habitat Canada is completed in full and on time Work with staff and volunteers to ensure that all customers are greeted and assisted, including ensuring the phone/email/social media inquiries are answered timely Ensure that social media channels are utilized daily

Leadership



Build and sustain a positive environment of confident, outstanding teamwork, integrity, mutual respect, and exceptional morale - lead by example Develop staff so that they can step in and cover when needed Spend at least 75% of your time on the sales floor leading the team Excite and inspire employees through your passion for customer/donor service and resale opportunities, and display a commitment to Habitat Cornwall & The Counties' core values

Qualifications



Proficiency in both official languages Integrity, credibility, and commitment to Habitat Cornwall & The Counties' mission Ability to relate to people with diverse backgrounds and solid experience of team build through positive and effective communications and strong interpersonal skills Proven Human Resources skills with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible management and leadership experience, directing successful teams and accountable for meeting objectives Knowledge of the retail industry, home goods/furnishings, and building materials Effective time management, communication, listening, and organizational skills Good computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office package Must have a sincere, friendly manner and develop positive and lasting relationships with donors, customers and volunteers Ability to prioritize multiple projects and self-manage with minimal supervision Proven record of strong financial performance as well as demonstrated financial acumen Commitment to work within and follow the policies and guidelines of Habitat Cornwall & The Counties A history of successfully adapting to changing conditions and shifts in priorities Ability to communicate an in-depth understanding of Habitat Cornwall & The Counties Clear drivers' abstract and recent experience driving commercial vehicle, including administration and reporting for CVOR Clear criminal record check Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions



Ability to work flexible hours (some weekends and evening hours will be required).

Ability to deal with the pressures of a demanding and fast-paced work environment.

Physical Requirements



In accordance with the Ontario Disabilities Act:

This position requires the physical ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. The position requires the ability to climb ladders or scaffolding, grasp, reach and stoop. Employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 lbs. Most of the work may be in non-temperature-controlled conditions, possibly outdoors, in warehouses, or at donor facilities.

Terms of Employment



Position reports directly to the Executive Director

Full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week

The ReStore Manager will be required to work some evenings and weekends, will be responsible for covering shifts within the ReStore and responding to security alarm when needed.
