Vision Rest Home is a forward-thinking, family-oriented retirement living setting in Sarnia, Ontario, dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for our residents. We are seeking a Rest Home Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Rest Home and Transitional Care Program (TCP).
This role is ideal for a compassionate, organized, and proactive leader with strong management, administrative, and coordination skills. The successful candidate will ensure smooth day-to-day operations, compliance with the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA), and Act, and an exceptional experience for residents, families, and staff.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Administrator, the Rest Home Manager oversees resident admissions and discharges, staffing, regulatory compliance, and general operations. The Manager works closely with healthcare partners and internal support teams to ensure the highest standards of service, safety, and quality of life for residents.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Administrative Leadership
Oversee daily operations of the Rest Home and Transitional Care Program, in collaboration with BWH
Manage admissions, discharges, and transitions in accordance with internal policies and the RHRA.
Coordinate with community partners and Bluewater Health to ensure seamless transitional support.
Lead and support Rest Home staff including Attendants, PSWs, RPNs, Housekeeping, and Student placements.
Participate in staff hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management.
Maintain compliance with all applicable legislation, audits, and internal standards.
Prepare and maintain reports, resident documentation, and quality improvement records.
Support and participate in inspections, safety reviews, and quality initiatives.
Ensure policies and procedures are current, reflective of best practices, and consistently applied.
Resident Experience & Quality
Foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive community for residents.
Support individualized plans and services that promote independence and dignity.
Oversee delivery of daily living supports, recreation, and general well-being activities.
Ensure effective communication with residents, families, and staff.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and person-centered care.
Partnership & Collaboration
Liaise with external agencies, healthcare partners, and service providers.
Participate in internal committees and provide regular updates to the Administrator.
Support coordination with infection control, health & safety, maintenance, and dietary teams.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in hospitality, retirement, or health-related operations (Rest Home experience preferred).
Strong understanding of the Retirement Homes Act (RHA) and compliance requirements.
Proven ability to manage staff, scheduling, and day-to-day operations.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with electronic systems and reporting tools.
Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Nursing, Gerontology, or related field preferred.
Experience in transitional or residential care coordination considered an asset.
