We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Respite Support Workers to provide temporary relief and support to individuals with diverse needs in various care settings. This role involves assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, and promoting well-being for clients with developmental disabilities, dementia, autism, or other special needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, home and community care, and experience working with vulnerable populations. Responsibilities
Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Monitor and observe patients for changes in condition or behavior, maintaining detailed documentation
Provide medication reminders and assist with medication administration following proper protocols
Support clients during meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met
Implement individualized care plans in accordance with healthcare standards and client preferences
Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to safely transfer clients when necessary
Maintain a clean and safe environment through light cleaning and sanitation tasks
Engage clients in social activities and therapeutic exercises to promote mental and emotional well-being
Follow HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of client information
Respond promptly to emergencies or changes in client condition, utilizing CPR or first aid skills as needed
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and support teams to deliver consistent care
Qualifications
Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health care preferred
Certification in First Aid and CPR required; additional certifications such as Alzheimer's or dementia care are advantageous
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or memory care needs preferred
Knowledge of medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and care planning processes
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required (e.g., resident transfers)
Strong patient observation skills coupled with compassionate caregiving abilities
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards in healthcare settings
Excellent communication skills for working effectively with clients, families, and team members
Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends or evenings if needed; a caring attitude is essential for success in this role
