Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program required Current NRP Certification required Current BCLS Certification required Current ACLS Certification required Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists required

Skill, Ability and Experience:

Basic proficiency in the use of computers required Experience with Meditech preferred Recent experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist preferred

Principal Duties:


---------------------


Respiratory therapeutic service including: patient assessment, oxygen and medication therapy; airway management; mechanical ventilation, Bipap,; safety checks of anaesthesia and related equipment; respond to cardiac arrests and other medical emergencies; transport of high risk patients including neonatal population. Attend high risk deliveries with stabilization and ventilation/CPAP/BIPAP of newborns and paediatric cases. Respiratory diagnostic service including pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gas analysis Art line insertions and Intubations Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives Completes continuing education requirements as necessary Acts as a coach, mentor, resource and positive role model for new staff and students Other related duties as assigned
