Your Opportunity:

The role of the Professional Practice Lead (PPL), Respiratory Therapy, is to advance the professional practice of the Respiratory Therapy discipline to support excellence in patient and family centered health care. As the PPL you will align planning and policy development, service delivery and evaluation of the Respiratory Therapy Program the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH). The PPL acts as a key resource for Respiratory and other clinical staff and physicians, as well as between the Respiratory Program and other clinical programs. You will also act as a resource to local leadership for evidence-based practices, professional standards and ethics, and legislative requirements for the profession. As the PPL you will use your influence to foster networks and coalitions among professionals to achieve goals and identify priorities in professional practice. In the PPL role you will lead quality improvement initiatives, program development, evaluation and knowledge translation based on patient, population, service sector and/or zone needs. Additionally, the PPL provides professional practice support to clinicians, and discipline-specific professional expertise to operational managers and directors to meet their needs such as emerging trends, scope of practice, staff mix, service models, service outcome targets and accreditation. You will also support the achievement of service sector or zone goals within AHS using practice-informed decision-making processes.

As a Respiratory Therapist III - Clinical Practice Lead, you will be responsible for mentoring, promoting standards of practice, responding to clinical questions, and coordinating ongoing skill and student development within your team. You will collaborate with managers and supervisors in the provision and access to internal and external continuing education and professional development programs including certifications and upgrades.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA). Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy. Successful completion of CSRT certification examination or recognized equivalent. Current Basic Life Support-Healthcare Provider. Minimum 5 years of acute care experience obtained within the last 7 years as a Respiratory Therapist required. The successful candidate will possess the following: strong interpersonal, oral and written skills; strong organizational and planning skills; strong problem-solving, decision-making and leadership skills; and strong collaboration skills. This self-directed individual should be flexible and adaptable and possess the ability to manage and facilitate changes within a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications:

Leadership experience in planning, leading change and evaluation. Clear pattern of professional and personal development. Knowledge and engagement in the discipline related to best and leading practices, governance, legislation, ethics, current issues and trends. Ability to guide and lead teams, build partnerships and foster effective relationships. Ability to communicate effectively and address or resolve complex issues and practice concerns.
