The role of the Professional Practice Lead (PPL), Respiratory Therapy, is to advance the professional practice of the Respiratory Therapy discipline to support excellence in patient and family centered health care. As the PPL you will align planning and policy development, service delivery and evaluation of the Respiratory Therapy Program the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH). The PPL acts as a key resource for Respiratory and other clinical staff and physicians, as well as between the Respiratory Program and other clinical programs. You will also act as a resource to local leadership for evidence-based practices, professional standards and ethics, and legislative requirements for the profession. As the PPL you will use your influence to foster networks and coalitions among professionals to achieve goals and identify priorities in professional practice. In the PPL role you will lead quality improvement initiatives, program development, evaluation and knowledge translation based on patient, population, service sector and/or zone needs. Additionally, the PPL provides professional practice support to clinicians, and discipline-specific professional expertise to operational managers and directors to meet their needs such as emerging trends, scope of practice, staff mix, service models, service outcome targets and accreditation. You will also support the achievement of service sector or zone goals within AHS using practice-informed decision-making processes.
