Your Opportunity:
The Respiratory Therapist provides pulmonary service to outpatient clinics including but not limited to Pulmonary Clinics, Interstitial Lung Disease Clinic, Asthma Clinic, Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic, Pre-Operative Clinics, Hematology Clinics, Neuromuscular Clinics, and has also been involved with Post COVID clinic initiatives. The successful incumbent needs to be able to work highly independently and be able to use critical thinking skills, organizational tools and have skills in prioritization. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Description:
As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Education (CoARTE) Current BLS-HCP with the physical ability to perform CPR on adult patients A working knowledge of Connect Care, Netcare, Outlook and Word as well as other applications is required. Must have excellent communication and documentation skills, and the ability to participate as an interdisciplinary team member. The candidate needs to be able to work independently and needs to have high organizational and prioritizing skills. An intermediate level of physical activity is required to fulfill job requirements including but not limited to reaching above shoulders frequently, looking up frequently, prolonged periods of keyboard computer work and the ability to assist patients with mobility limitations is required (ie: transfers, bariatric clients, bending, stooping, twisting, walking distances). Must be able to lift and carry 10-15kg regularly. Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent Critical care RRT experience (within the last 5 years) CRE Recent Ambulatory care experience within the last 2 years
