An exciting opportunity exists to grow your skills and join a dynamic team within the Cross Cancer Centre (CCI). The CCI is currently recruiting a Respiratory Therapist I (RRT) to join our patient focused ambulatory and inpatient services. The RRT will work independently in assessing oncology/hematology patients in developing a care plan. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide recommendations and support to the different departments at the site (Systemic Treatment area, OR, inpatients, Radiation Therapy, Diagnostic Imaging, Outpatient clinics and Pulmonary Function Lab). Experience with pediatrics and adults would be considered an asset. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Code Team at the CCI. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Required Qualifications:Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA). Additional Required Qualifications:Acute care experience and/or training within the past 2 years. Pulmonary Function testing experience (3 months full-time). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Critical thinker who can problem solve and work independently. Must be able to perform repetitive physical duties that include walking long distances, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching above shoulder, and able to lift a minimum of 12kg. Must be able to assist with safe patient transfers and other duties related to patient care. Proficient written and verbal communication skills for safe patient/family care and interdisciplinary collaboration. Must be competent in providing care to patients newly diagnosed through the continuum of end of life. Preferred Qualifications:Experience caring for oncology/hematology patients. Familiarity in supporting the care of pediatric patients in tandem with an anesthesiologist. Prior experience working on a Code Team. Experience with Clinical Trials. Demonstrate a commitment to and participation in professional growth.
