The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides leadership and expertise in the field of Respiratory Therapy and will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to assist in the diagnosis and management of patients with cardiopulmonary and related disorders. You will actively participate in the education of patients, students, staff, and physicians; contribute to department and/or service area process improvement; maintain a professional and accountable practice; advocate professionally and effectively for patients using the principles of patient and family centered care; and provide technical support for all Respiratory Therapy equipment. All RRT positions at Foothills Medical Center are expected to be able to work in all areas that Respiratory Services clinically supports if required. Daily service area assignments can be adjusted at the manager's discretion to meet department and operational needs. Primary assignment of posting is the cardiovascular intensive care unit. A demonstrated pattern of professional development; display of interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills; ability to manage competing priorities, be self-directed, exercise independent decision making and effectively resolve conflict; and promotion of a healthy, respectful, and safe work environments are required. Current rotation is days and nights.
Description:
As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.
