About the Position

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist students with documented learning supports identified who are enrolled in programs at College of the North Atlantic's Happy Valley-Goose Bay campus.

Consult with the Coordinator of Disability Services, faculty, health-care professionals, community service workers, advocacy group representatives, and parents/guardians of students with disabilities.

Areas of support addressed by the Resource Facilitator may include assisting individual students and small groups, assisting in the delivery of accommodations as required, and providing assistance with administration of exams and the use of assistive technology.

Merit Criteria

Screening Criteria

Diploma in Community Studies or a Certificate in Adult Education (•Equivalencies will be considered•).

Recent, relevant work experience with individuals with disabilities.

Assessment Criteria

Knowledge of learning disability-related issues and learning techniques designed for adult learners with disabilities.

Knowledge of various assistive technologies used to enhance student learning and knowledge of sign language (•asset)•.

Knowledge of computer programs and applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Organizational/time management skills.

Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

Problem solving skills.

Effective working relationships.

Communication skills.

This is a sessional full-time position.
