Kluane National Park and Reserve is seeking a motivated Resource Conservation Manager who is committed to the principles and practice of cooperative management of protected places. This is an exciting opportunity to manage the development and delivery of Parks Canada programs, operations, and services. This role oversees various local functional areas within Resource Conservation, including ecological integrity, visitor safety, human wildlife coexistence, and cultural resource management, while also serving as a member of the site management team.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in natural resources conservation, ecosystem management or natural or environmental sciences (biology, ecology, forestry, soil science, geology, or geography)

OR

An acceptable combination of experience, training, and education such as traditional knowledge acquired from time spent on the land, and/or the teaching of elders
Degree equivalency


EXPERIENCE

Recent and significant experience planning, managing, and implementing ecological and cultural resource management in terrestrial environment
Experience identifying, implementing, and reviewing resource management priorities and strategies in line with policy and program direction Recent and significant experience providing strategic advice to senior managers and/or partner organizations
Experience working collaboratively with Indigenous partners Recent and significant experience managing human resources including overseeing management of staff and financial resources management



Recent and *significant is defined by a minimum of 3 years within the last 5 years

Conditions of employment

Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance Pre-employment screening by First Nations and Parks Management Board Mobility, usually associated with a driver's license, to travel to different work sites, or, a valid Yukon class 5 driver's license or equivalent When the position is located in an area classed as isolated and remote, a pre-employment medical examination of an individual and his/her dependents may be required


OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Be willing and able to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment Be willing and able to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations, and by various means of transportation Be willing and able to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required
