Accountabilities:
Accountability #1Represents The Salvation Army in a professional, courteous manner, congruent with organization values and principles. Monitors the activities of the clients and maintains availability for personal, practical and moral support. Provides life skills training (personal hygiene, mental and physical health, communication, anger management, etc.) for clients in cooperation with support workers. Acts as client advocate and has regular meetings with goals.

Accountability #2Liaises with referral sources and other external agencies as needed (i.e. Client Navigators) Facilities workshops and group sessions with clients (Client check-ins, working group sessions, crafts, house meetings). Work with support staff to coordinate client care in relation to security issues, perform house checks, ensure clients are up each day by 9:00 am and that the kitchen is closed by 9:30am and open again at 11:30am and closed and sanitized by 1:00pm. Communicate with Agencies such as Ontario Works, ODSP, Housing Registry and Housing Services etc...

Accountability #3Perform, as necessary, clerical duties for client documentation, including intakes and discharges, entries into HIFIS 4, logbook entries. Follow up with off-site families to ensure safety and security. May handle intake procedures if support staff unavailable. Will prepare meals when required, menu suggestions and supervise household duties ensuring proper clean up and sanitization. As requires and applicable, make suggestions that will improve efficiency, working conditions or procedures to management. Adhere to standards that are consistent with the values and philosophy of The Salvation Army.

Managerial/Technical Responsibilities:Participate fully and constructively in staff meetings and in-service training. Engage in formal evaluation sessions (PEAC) and supervision 3 and 6 months during the first year of employment and annually thereafter. Read and follow the Policy & Procedures Manual and Employee Handbook. Perform other duties as assigned Bilingualism an asset. Participate in PATH meetings weekly and organize and administer SPDAT assessments for clients - track results into HIFIS4. Participate in RMT meetings twice weekly. Active member of the Health and Safety committee - training will be provided.

Diplomas, Certifications or Requirements:
The successful applicant will hold/have:
Current Certification in First Aid/CPR
Criminal Police Investigation Check with Vulnerable Sector (CPIC)
Non-Violent crisis intervention training
Food Handers Certification
Vulnerable populations records check.
Minimum Prior Related Experience:
2 years social service worker diploma or equivalent
3-5 years in a related field
Experience working with a vulnerable population.
HIFIS knowledge an asset
Physical Effort/Dexterity Required:
The performance of the job requires occasional walking and stairs - also some light housekeeping. Required to lift up to 20lbs.
Concentration Required:
The performance of the job requires monitoring the environment and attentive listening - multitasking.
Responsibility for Financial Resources:
The incumbent is involved in minor financial matters.
The incumbent has very little input into the annual budget.
Responsibility for Human Resources:
The incumbent is responsible for his/her own time and effort only. They may demonstrate work methods to new employees, volunteers and/or students.

Verbal abuse
Offensive odors
Cleaning human waste and dirt (communicable diseases)
Handing garbage
Many stairs
Exposure to Hazards:
Exposure to infections diseases
Exposure to bodily fluids
Exposure to angry clients (Non-violent crisis intervention)
Exposure to drug paraphernalia

The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules):

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $23.44 to $23.44 with a maximum of $23.44.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
