The Opportunity



As our

Overnight Residential Support Worker

, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of the women at The Marguerite Centre overnight.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the safety and security of the residents as well as the facility in a single staffed environment Encourage good resident morale and ensure an atmosphere that is warm, positive, home-like and respectful.

Use effective crisis intervention techniques so as to assess, establish priorities, and intervene appropriately.

Ensure that residents adhere to their medication schedule; record dosages.

Observe signs of illness and take appropriate action when required.

Inform supervisor of any fire and safety issues or incident reports (e.g. Injury, a major behaviour change in a resident).

Complete regular inventories of household supplies, and complete routine inspections.

Clean and prepare vacant rooms to ensure they are ready for occupancy at any time.

Clean the common staff areas: bathroom, back foyer, staff office.

Regularly inspect the Centre for cleanliness and order and document the results of the inspection.

In the winter, be responsible for the removal of snow from the walkways and entrances to ensure the safety of the residents and staff that arrive in the morning.

Socialize with residents as appropriate opportunities arise.

Ensure that the residents are up and dressed at the appropriate hour.

Qualifications

High School diploma or G.E.D.

Excellent ability to organize and multi-task.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to exercise good judgement and make sound decisions.

Knowledge of the issues that contribute to substance abuse (including alcohol and gambling) including, but not limited to, homelessness, physical and sexual abuse, low self-esteem, and the cycle of poverty and abuse.

Demonstrated ability to react to crisis situations in a calm and appropriate manner ensuring the safety of the residents and staff.

Ability to work independently and within a team framework.

Experience working in an all-women setting is considered an asset.

First Aid and CPR certified

Solution and crisis management.
Part-time hours:

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights 11:45pm -8am

with the possibility of picking up shifts to cover vacations and illnesses
