This fulltime posting is for Cochrane, Alberta. One 12 hour DAY SHIFT position is available. The shift runs from 0900 to 2100 (9:00 AM to 9:00 PM) Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
each week.

We are looking for a highly motivated, committed, and person-centered frontline worker to join our Residential Support team as Community Disability Service Practitioners. In order to be successful, you will need a background in handling multiple diagnoses, behaviours of concern, aggressive tendencies, and complicated histories in the individuals being supported.
As a
Community Disability Service Practitioner
you will be responsible for the frontline, in-home, and community access provisions of support for individuals with cognitive and/or mental health issues, developmental delays, and behaviors of concern that may put themselves and others at risk.
To succeed as a
Community Disability Service Practitioner/Residential Support Worker
you should be able to demonstrate the ability to:
Identify behaviors of concern and implement support plans
Assist and support individuals to access and participate in the community in meaningful ways
Assist individuals in the development of social skills and meaningful relationships
Be aware of and adhere to established policies, practices and operational protocols
Provide support with ADLs such as personal care routines, cooking, and cleaning
Transport individuals to and from appointments and outings using a reliable vehicle (Class 5 or better licence required)
You will bring:
Formal Education:
Post Secondary Education in Social Work, Community Disability Studies, Psychology, etc.
Experience:
A minimum of one (1) year of experience providing supports to adults with dual or multiple diagnoses. Experience dealing with challenging and sometimes physical or violent behaviors is a
must
.
Driving:
A current Class 5 driver's licence that has been issued in Canada, a willingness to drive for work, and a reliable vehicle that will be used to transport individuals throughout the community.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to confidently provide front line, in-home support to adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities who face varying challenges
Proven ability to work with mental health concerns, self harming behaviors, and aggressive tendencies
Ability to respond/remain calm in emotionally charged situations
Positive attitude
Strong computer, documentation, and English language skills are needed (both verbal and written)
Punctuality and time management
Must be able to identify issues, set priorities, and implement an appropriate plan of action
Proven ability to work collaboratively
Other Necessities:
You will need to have a reliable car through all seasons of the year and personal liability vehicle insurance. Minimum third party liability coverage must be set at two million dollars ($2,000,000.00)
A Class 5 or better driver's license issued in Canada is required
Successful candidates will need to complete a Vulnerable Sectors and Criminal Record Check
