Residential Drafter Cad Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Residential CAD Drafter to join our Design and Drafting team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing precise and construction-ready technical blueprints and residential house floor plans. You will collaborate with our internal architectural staff and other consultants to produce designs that align with company goals and meet customer specifications. Responsibilities

Liaise with designers, internal field staff, and consultants to resolve design issues and ensure alignment with company standards. Produce precise and construction-ready drawings, including layouts, elevations, sections, and site plans using AutoCAD. Support the creation of CAD drawings from concept to final design. Incorporate architectural standards, design criteria, and redline feedback into finalized plans. Revise and update models to reflect design updates, structural adjustments, municipal code requirements, and custom client requests. Maintain accuracy, consistency, and version tracking for all active projects. Collaborate with internal departments--including design, construction, estimating, and permitting--to ensure project requirements are met. Prepare permit drawings and documentation for submission to municipalities and developers, ensuring compliance with the Alberta Building Code. Maintain a well-organized and up-to-date digital record of all drawings, templates, and revisions. Create new marketing materials for residential house models, including floor plans and 3D rendering views. Monitor changes in building codes and regulations and update documentation practices as needed to remain compliant.

Skills and qualifications

Proficiency in CAD software:

Expertise in AutoCAD and other relevant software, such as Revit, is required. Experience with rendering software like D5 and Photoshop is an asset.

Strong drafting knowledge:

Must have a solid understanding of drafting principles and techniques.

Attention to detail:

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy is essential for this role.

Problem-solving:

Strong problem-solving skills are necessary to address design and construction challenges.

Communication:

Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with team members and consultants.

Construction knowledge:

Understanding of the Alberta Building Code and residential construction processes.

Adaptability:

The ability to manage multiple plans simultaneously while working under pressure is a must.
Requirements:

Secondary School (preferred) and Computer Aided Design Certified Minimum of 3 years of AutoCAD drafting experience along with a strong construction drawings background. Ability to read and draft plans. Proficient with the use of computers and software, including MS Office (Word, Excel). Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$29.00 per hour
