Starting Wage is

$29.00

an hour, with evening and night premiums as applicable.

Position Summary:



Under the supervision of the Brio Team Leader and/or Nurse in charge, the Resident Care Aide provides care tasks to meet resident needs in accordance with policies, procedures, and nursing standards. This position is responsible for providing daily bathing and monthly weights for residents on the Care Unit. Utilizing the Care plan, the RCA observes and reports pertinent conditions, behaviours, and activities to the staff Nurse or BRIO Team Leader. The RCA performs ADL's, baths, assists residents in sitting, walking, standing, transferring, and dressing residents as necessary and as outlined in the care plan. Also completes table settings, serving at meals, recreation activities, restocking work areas, charting and laundry services. Performs other related duties as required.

The successful candidate will be a flexible individual who enjoys multitasking and displays high energy, with the ability to encourage a comfortable, home-like environment for residents, team members, families, and visitors.

Qualifications & Skills:



Completion of RCA certificate with diploma Medication Administration Certificate Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry preferred WHMIS, First Aid, & CPR Experience in the field of geriatrics & resident care Knowledge of bath procedures and ADL needs for seniors Knowledge of methods of transfer and capable of supporting residents with varying degrees of mobility Physically able to lift, bend and perform repetitive movements Proficient and accurate observation and recording skills Demonstrates an awareness of accident and incident prevention and adheres to safe work practices Demonstrates a solid understanding of the intent, philosophy, and core values of assisted living when planning and delivering personal service and hospitality services

The Resident Care Aide works as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of care to Berwick's BRIO residents. With a holistic and caring approach, the RCA supports the wellbeing of residents in a manner that embraces resident safety, comfort and dignity.

Note: At Berwick we understand the importance of immunization to protect our residents, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are vaccinated as approved by Health Canada. A current TB test and criminal record check are also required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults.
