Job Description

The Prince George Activator Society is social service organization that supports male offenders who are on conditional release from federal and provincial correctional institutions. We assist men by guiding them towards self-fulfillment and successful social and economic reintegration. Activators aims to provide a structured, residential environment that assists residents with their challenges in the areas of employment, education, substance abuse, life skills, and community functioning.

We are currently seeking a Residence Worker to work at our 'Aghelh Nebun Community Residential Facility (CRF) on full-time basis. Candidates must be available to work a four-on four-off shift schedule which rotates between day shift (0600-1800) and night shift (1800-0600).

'Aghelh Nebun CRF is located 85 km east of Prince George, specifically located at KM 43.5, on the Bowron Forest Service Road. 'Aghelh Nebun CRF offers residents, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, a remote holistic, land-based healing environment structured around Indigenous philosophies of health and well-being. 'Aghelh Nebun offers a program which involves employment training, work experience, one-on-one counselling, and cultural initiatives, and provides residents the opportunity to develop spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Job Summary:

The Residence Worker performs supportive duties such as but not limited to monitoring resident movement around the facility premises, completing log book documentation, answering the telephone and email, performing rounds of premises as required, dispensing medication, and assisting residents in a variety of tasks, as needed. The Residence Worker ensures all buildings and grounds are secure and residents are accounted for during the shift. The Residence Worker is also responsible for completing minor cleaning duties. The Residence Worker follows all policies and procedures outlined by the Prince George Activator Society.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Answer telephone and email

Complete daily log book documentation

Liaise with contractual partners, as needed

Monitor resident, staff, and visitor movement on premises

Complete routine resident and premises checks

Dispense medication to residents in accordance with policies and procedures

Review and evaluate resident progress

Monitor on-site activities and assist contractual partners, as needed

Maintain filing system

Monitor resident duty assignments to ensure duties are being completed to specified organizational standards

Observe resident behaviour and report concerns or incidents to applicable staff in accordance with policies and procedures

Assist residents in a variety of tasks, as needed

Complete cleaning duties such as wiping down and disinfecting surfaces, sweeping and mopping

Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including written and verbal communication, conflict resolution, and problem solving

Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community and government partners

Experience and competence in log book documentation, report writing, and maintenance schedules

Excellent time management skills

Ability to understand offender behaviour and assess individual needs and risk

Intermediate computer skills

Ability to work with minimal supervision and to work both independently and cooperatively with a team

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Grade 12 education

Valid BC driver's license (Class 5) and reliable transportation (appropriate vehicle for driving on a forest service road)

Experience with residential programs and supportive program delivery for challenging populations with addictions and mental health needs is an asset

Ability to obtain Correctional Services of Canada enhanced security clearance (may be obtained prior to employment)

First Aid and Food Safe is an asset
