Corrosion Researcher (1 Year Term)

InnoTech Alberta is seeking an innovative and collaborative Corrosion Engineer or Researcher to join its Advanced Materials & Asset Integrity team for a one-year term to support the group\xe2\x80\x99s applied research and industrial client projects. This position will support the team\xe2\x80\x99s asset reliability and integrity activities including the development and management of projects and programs, client engagement, design of experiments and testing protocols, and analysis and interpretation of experimental results. The team\xe2\x80\x99s asset reliability and integrity for applied research includes corrosion, hydrogen infrastructure materials, CO2 transporting infrastructure materials, material degradation, gas permeation, and modeling.

Reporting to the Manager of Advanced Materials & Asset Integrity, this role will focus on enhancing the team\xe2\x80\x99s corrosion engineering capabilities. Specific related responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Use and apply innovative technical expertise and capabilities to:
  • Support development and execution of projects involving the design, selection, and evaluation of materials, and generate information to support client\xe2\x80\x99s asset integrity programs
  • Support development and execution of projects involving evaluation of fluids, corrosives, or fluid-material interaction
  • Design project experiments and testing protocols, analyze and interpret data and experimental results, and draw conclusions
  • Identification of new solutions or technologies and industrial applications
  • Support in development and management of the execution of applied research, technology, and development projects including:
  • Definition and monitoring of project schedule, budget, and scope of work
  • Management of project outcomes to ensure timely delivery and high quality
  • Preparation of technical and progress reports
  • Engagement with clients and project stakeholders to provide progress updates
  • Presentation of technical information at workshops, meetings, and conferences
  • Development of new business opportunities
The position will be based in InnoTech Alberta\xe2\x80\x99s facility in Devon.

Qualifications and skills we are looking for:
  • Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Chemical, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering (Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree or PhD is preferred); extended work experience may be substituted for education credentials, if appropriate.
  • Registered with APEGA as an E.I.T but Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of technical and project/program management experience related to asset integrity including, but not limited to: corrosion and gas permeation; lesser experience will be considered.
  • Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and proactive
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks, competing resources, and client demands

  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong written communication skills, demonstrated through technical reports and proposals
