Specific Accountabilities:
Technical Duties
The incumbent's technical responsibilities include design, installation, implementation, commissioning, maintenance, calibration, operation, and troubleshooting of analytical equipment, and measurement devices for the assigned research projects. Incumbent must execute projects, develop relationships and communicate project results to research partners.
Administration Duties
The incumbent will also be responsible for developing purchasing documents, recording the project progress and equipment status and helping with research outreach in collaboration with Research Manager and Applied Research and Innovation Office.
About the Position:
This is a temporary support staff bargaining unit position. This position will start as soon as possible and run for 1 year - working 35 hours per week at an hourly rate of $36.29, reporting to the Manager, LMIC.
Reporting to the LMIC Manager and working closely with Faculty Researchers and Research Centre Coordinators, the Research Technologist - Advanced Manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence is responsible for carrying out activities for various research projects focused on advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, prototyping, testing and experimentation in collaboration with Research Manager, Research Students, industry partners and Applied Research and Innovation Office staff.
Research Technologist - Advanced Manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence will conduct and support research activities including literature review, data analysis, and experimentation in collaboration with researchers and industry partners in the area of advanced manufacturing, information technology, artificial intelligence, instrumentation and materials. They will be involved directly with experiments and development of reports.
Research Technologist - Advanced Manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence will complete laboratory analysis and design of experiments for research projects.
Qualifications:
3 year diploma or degree in Engineering, Artificial intelligence, Instrumentation or Mechanical Technology
Minimum 3 years of experience in: Laboratory and instrumentation equipment, Artificial Intelligence development, Laboratory experiments and procedures, Conducting and executing research projects
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Strong commitment to overall health and safety
Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and evaluation skills required to troubleshoot, problem-solve and provide analytical solutions to a wide variety of situations
Experience engaging and developing relationships with partner
