Duties
As a Research Technician II in the STTARR-preclinical imaging core main responsibilities will include supporting/assisting preclinical MRI operations along with nuclear imaging PET/SPECT studies. Key Duties: Manage the design, execution, analysis, and reporting of pre-clinical discovery research studies while ensuring collected and reported data are of high standards Provide support with daily operations of the MRI systems Operations of CT, PET, SPECT imaging modalities Nuclear medicine and molecular imaging- handling radioisotopes for preclinical imaging studies Utilizing practical and theoretical knowledge to perform laboratory procedures; developing new methods and operating procedures; completing assigned workload to ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory; maintaining quality control standards in assigned area; demonstrating understanding of the operational theories/procedures, performance characteristics of instruments/equipment to facilitate effective and efficient operations Assist with project leads with: All internal and external study-related communications Creating and maintaining an open and supportive internal team environment Acquiring sufficient knowledge on the disease of interest, its basic pathophysiology biology and how the specific study pertains to that field The integrity and quality of the data shared with the client Supporting the execution of pre-clinical imaging studies across various therapeutic areas Interfacing with clients, study managers and laboratory staff to oversee all aspects of study management from proposal to final report including data analysis.
Requirements
Qualifications would include the following: Completion of a recognized Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technologist program (CAMRT) and or Medical Radiation Technologist program, or equivalent, is preferred Current registration as a radiological technologist with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) is highly preferred At a minimum completion of a Bachelor\'s degree required, completion of a Masters degree in a scientific discipline Current experience in preclinical CT, PET, SPECT, ultrasound and theoretical knowledge and operational skills in MRI. Knowledge in nuclear imaging Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and practice of laboratory procedures, instruments, equipment and special techniques, efficient use of laboratory equipment and supplies Experience managing all aspects of a laboratory including ordering, billing, interaction with clients, and scheduling if needed Excellent problem recognition and problem-solving skills Effective organizational, time management and prioritization skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and accurately Ability to work effectively as a team member, and interact with other functional groups within the core facility Ability to multi-task and handle both administrative and technical workload Dedicated and willing to work extra-hours as required Understanding of appropriate behaviour required to work successfully in a diverse work group Abide by applicable hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and practices Must be computer literate in Windows based applications including imaging software (IRW) is highly preferred
