About Our Opportunity

The Research Stats Officer, plays an important role in the proactive compliance and accountability work of the Adult Education division (AED). As the Research Stats Officer you are responsible for developing research and survey methodology and conducting research and analysis on data and information sets from a variety of sources to support development, evaluation and decision-making.

You will support policy development by conducting research, analyzing issues, preparing summary reports. You will also be responsible for managing special adult learning projects and initiatives which includes coordination of annual events and stakeholder consultations.

This position reports to the Manager of Policy and Planning.

Primary Accountabilities

  • As a key member of the Policy and Planning Unit, this position supports the work of the Adult Education Division which includes the Fair Registration Practices Act (FRPA) Review Officer as well as the administration of the Nova Scotia School for Adult Learning.
  • Conducts research, analyzing issues, preparing summary reports, jurisdictional scans and supports policy development.
  • Develops data management strategies using a variety of tools and develops resources.
  • May lead or participate in committees or working groups for the development, review or evaluation of policies, procedures or guidelines pertaining to the programs of the Adult Education Division.
Qualifications and Experience

You possess a Bachelors\' degree plus 3 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

You have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and can explain complex information in an accessible manner. You have experience in research and data analysis as well as designing and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences. You have experience in policy development, conduction jurisdictional scans as well as data management. You have excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, and consistently maintain a respectful, professional, and courteous disposition with colleagues and clients. You bring a high level of attention to detail with the ability to synthesize information.

You have experience using Microsoft office programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Outlook) and are familiar using spreadsheets.

The following are considered assets:
  • Experience with writing database queries
  • LaMPSS
  • Evaluation experience for the review of project activities, compiling information and providing advice on improvements when necessary.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using on or more of the following tools: oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: PR 10

Salary Range: $2,251.48 - $2,746.69 Bi-Weekly
