The Research Specialist will manage multiple applied research projects related to the Oral Health Grant, Genomics and other Health Science related fields, ensuring that all tasks assigned are completed on schedule and on budget. The Specialist will lead and manage staff and students assigned to the projects, communicate with faculty, staff, partners and other researchers to understand challenges and potential solutions.



Qualifications:



Minimum of a Master's degree in a Health Sciences related field Minimum of 1 year of experience in a research related position or field Good working knowledge of computer software such as MS Office products Understanding and/or working knowledge of the targeted research project field Practical knowledge of appropriate scholarly databases for literature searches, research methodologies and software appropriate to project needs Experience with software such as Mendeley, SPSS, Qualtrics and NVivo or related, as appropriate to the project protocol and needs Experience in project management and budget management Working knowledge and experience of equipment related to the research field of interest Experience in people management and performance management In-person, on campus position. Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to North Bay, ON

Responsibilities:



Contribute to the development of the Statement of Work (SOW) and project plans for individual projects, provide input on project deliverables, milestones, research methods, variables and other test parameters and data collection in Health Sciences Manage Partner meetings and business development for the areas assigned Execute agreed-upon experiments and project methodology including analytical method development, formulation and product development activities, sample preparation, survey creation or implementation in accordance with the area and tasks assigned Project and budget management for the area assigned to support overall research sustainability and growth Mentor and train students to establish a high standard for scientific credibility and rigor in applied research initiatives and approach to solutions Manage and train staff who are hired through project budgets including Research Assistants, Research students, and others Gather and analyze research data and prepare research project reports and presentations Communicate with researchers and clients to better understand technical challenges and potential solutions Collaborate with the Director to provide strategic direction to the area assigned and co-develop business objectives and metrics accordingly Other duties as assigned
