Working to solve global aquaculture challenges, East Coast Innovation supports companies as they improve operations in virtually every area of the aquaculture sector. We do this by using technologies like 3D modelling to create scale models of new innovations and testing them in local research facilities. After validation, we use a blend of manufacturing techniques to build products and test them during commercial operations. We are a motivated group of individuals with an in-depth understanding of the aquaculture industry and a drive for continuous improvement.

East Coast Innovation is looking to expand its research team with someone who is comfortable working on a small team in a fast-paced work environment.

You will support ECI's research activities with creative ideas and energy and embrace the opportunity to learn and share new techniques and technologies. This includes planning and executing experiments, analyzing the data afterward, and preparing reports for various internal and external stakeholders. This position involves traveling worldwide, particularly to Europe.

The role involves working closely with team members from multiple departments to plan and execute product testing to find solutions for a variety of Aquaculture challenges. As you work with the team, you will have many opportunities to learn and develop your skill set. You will work under the direct supervision of our Director of Research.

Responsibilities



Your responsibilities as a Research Scientist will include:

Execute literature research on fish behaviour and similar topics Create test plans and data collection strategies Execute testing procedure and data collection Analyse and interpret data Produce regular reports with supporting data and documentation Work collaboratively with the ECI team Liaise with clients and suppliers Agree on budgets, timescales and specifications with clients and managers Assist in the training and development of other team members as you gain experience with the company

Requirements



Experience in these areas is a plus; however, if your experience through projects and job placements is in other areas and you are interested and motivated to learn, we are interested to hear from you and will determine if your skill set can be applied to this position.

Bachelor's degree in biology, marine biology or other related discipline Experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis Detail oriented and analytical thinking Lab experience is not necessary, but would be considered an asset Exposure and experience in the field of aquaculture is not necessary, but is an asset Experience with statistical software (e.g. R-Studio) is not necessary, but is an asset Willing to travel for work Ability to work under pressure Proven interpersonal and teamworking skills
